When R/West first moved into the Central Eastside Industrial District, it was just that… Industrial. Hard to find a good cup of coffee, let alone a place to grab lunch, it’s been a total joy to see the neighborhood around us change over the years to encompass some really innovative and beautiful companies.

In this series of posts, called Neighborhood Watch, we will visit a few of our favorite local hot spots. As a creative company, we are always on the look out for inspiration- be it in a design, a product or even a cocktail!

The first spot on our list is the brand-spanking-new Jacobsen Sea Salt tasting room and warehouse located at 610 SE Salmon.   Started by Ben Jacobsen, a former software marketing executive, these finishing salts are made of salt water from Oregon’s own Netarts Bay. Originally a cult classic, the salts have won the praises of chefs across the country.

The new space will host tastings, cooking demos, salt-making classes, and celebratory dinners in the months to come.

Our team was lucky enough to stop by when no one else was in the retail shop. There we were greeted by the lovely Sana who showed us a number of different flavors… Pinot Noir Salt, anyone?

To stay up to date on all things salty and Jacobsen, give them a thumbs up on Facebook, Tweet them or stop in and say “hi” in person to Sana and her adorable dog Bourbon:
