The 2013-2014 winter season was one of NYC’s snowiest and coldest on record, and by early 2014, New York’s hottest club boot was SOREL. Fashionable and functional footwear was a must, from Fashion Week to the city streets.

When R/West started working with SOREL footwear in 2008, it was the go-to boot for the slopes and outdoor enthusiasts. In the past 8 years, we’ve helped to expand the SOREL fan base beyond the mountain – from college campuses to fashion epicenters, like New York City.

On October 30, 2014, SOREL took the next step into the big city and opened their first ever branded retail store. Located in the Meatpacking District, this store has everything – sleek, waterproof wedges, equestrian-inspired riding boots, and insulated, temperature-rated snow boots. Plus, there’s no cover charge.

SOREL

With openings in NYC 24/7 from all the top brands, it’s all about the buzz. Our team kicked off an integrated public relations and social media campaign to spread the word. We launched the #SORELnyc photo contest on Facebook and Instagram to build excitement with the local SOREL community. Early media outreach resulted in 20 editorial placements for the store opening, including an announcement in The New York Times. To date, we’ve welcomed over 70 New York-based media contacts for an exclusive look at the collection and the store, all while building relationships for the brand.

The store has been open just a few weeks, and excitement continues to build about SOREL’s first brick-and-mortar location, with media requests pouring in and great shopper engagement at the store. Temperatures are plummeting on the east coast, and another Polar Vortex seems imminent, but SOREL is making sure we’re ready.

The SOREL store is located at 345 West 14th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. Store hours are 10 am – 8 pm Monday through Saturday, and 11 am – 7 pm on Sunday. Open through February 2015. To learn more check out #SORELnyc.
