Neighborhood Watch: Industrial, Antiques, Reclaimed, Oh My!
June 22, 2015
There’s an epidemic afoot here at R/West and it involves home buying. Being one of six employees who purchased a home in the last couple months, I find myself in an ongoing state of spending much more time that I care to admit trying to perfectly design, decorate and furnish this shiny new home of mine. Luckily, I can find lots of great places to peruse right in R/West’s backyard. Every time I go for a walk outside of the office I find more and more home stores to explore, and inevitably spend my money. So if you’re a new home buyer yourself, recently moved, or in need of anything home-centric, take a trip to our hood and enjoy the local shopping!

Grand Marketplace is a plethora of goodness. With over 18 vendors inside the sprawling building that covers at least a street block off of SE Grand, there is plenty to feast your eyes on. I’d recommend at least giving yourself some time to make it through the entire place. But take my advice with a grain of salt, I’ve yet to look at everything in there. I can only dream to someday accomplish that feat! They have a mix of custom pieces, antiques, reclaimed furniture and lots of other new and old smaller items for great home decorating.

City Home, a personal favorite, just expanded their Annex location off of SE Taylor into a much larger warehouse attached to their front showroom. One of the greatest things they offer here are custom industrial furniture designed at truly a reasonable price. Definitely compares to one of the “bigger box” home good stores in price, but you can go home with a unique and custom piece for your digs. They also have some really neat reclaimed furniture that give a timeless piece some new love.

Store Hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11am – 4pm
or by appointment
A hidden gem that is hard to find, not always open, but well worth it is, “E” Annex. The smaller showroom is full of beautiful pieces you’d be lucky to put in your home. There is a mix of antiques and designed pieces that are very nicely set up through the space. The showroom itself feels like a designed home and it is easy to imagine how any of the pieces there would fit into your own home décor. One of their biggest specialties is interior design service, which is served under the name Essence Interiors.

Our neighborhood upper-end home goods “chain store”. Rejuvenation has literally everything I could ever want in my home. The designs, decorations and furniture pieces are straight out of a Kinfolk catalog spread. I’d have to say my favorite thing to look at (but never buy) here is their lighting selections. Who know lighting could be so fascinating and beautiful. So if you’re in the market for some fantastic new lighting, bring your credit card!
